Tap The Caret To Close

Book Review | Tsarina

Hi, hi!

NetGalley recently gifted me an e-book called Tsarina by Ellen Alpsten.

Tsarina is a historical fiction novel about Catherine I of Russia, not to be mistaken for Catherine the Great. The novel starts with her humble beginnings and spans her life in the early 1700’s.

I don’t really know much about Russian history expect for a small portion I learned in a European history class I took in high school. It was interesting learning a little more about it. The novel was enjoyable as I learned more, however there were times where it was a little difficult to keep track of the characters. I did have to do some re-reading because of that. I still enjoyed the book though and recommend if you’re into historical fiction. I will warn you though there are a few sexual assault/rape scenes that were difficult to read.

I rate the book 3.5/5 stars.

If you’re interested in reading this novel, it will be released on October 13, 2020.

Thank you again to NetGalley, the publisher, and author!
